Reserve Your Tickets!

Tickets are available for reservation for this semester’s MTE (Musical Theatre Ensemble) production of Pippin! The title character is a naive, inexperienced young man looking to make his mark in the world. Appropriate for a the high school experience– making choices becomes the central plot of the show. That, and a great many terrific songs!

Come hear great music sung by the ensemble, great dancing, and terrific acting in a showcase of one of the finest examples of the musical songbook from the 1970s.

Tickets are $5.00
Bring your friends!!
The show will be in the Martin Luther King Performing Arts Center on Thursday  @ 7:00 PM

Newsletter TheatreCHS 12/2-12/7

1460138_708464739634_1116750185_nDear Parents, Students, and Friends of TheatreCHS,

I sincerely hope that everyone has had a restful break from the busy year; the numerous activities that we take on tend to become almost a blur at this point, and from here on until Winter break, we really have to hold on to our hats!
  • Eurydice Opens on December 13 @ 7:00 PM in the Black Box
  • Tickets will go on sale next week! If you haven’t seen our poster design for the show, Trevor Haggerty really outdid himself again! I attached it to this email.
  • Pippin will be performed on December 19 @ 7:00 PM in the MLK PAC
  • Tickets will go on sale during exam week!
I did want to take this opportunity to congratulate those cast in the Spring Musical, Sweeney Todd. The casting process for this ambitious show was needless to say, difficult. It is a decision to which I give tremendous consideration, and no part or ensemble role is taken lightly. Students will have a chance to attend a read-thru of the show on December 16th @ 3:45. During which time:
  • Understudies will be assigned for principle roles (Sweeney, Anthony, Mrs. Lovett, Johanna, Tobias, Pirelli, Beggar Woman, Judge, Beadle)
  • Music/Scripts will be distributed.
  • Everyone who auditioned filled out an audition form that also serves as their commitment letter.
  • Students will be receiving these forms for parental signatures between now and winter break. Forms will need to be signed indicating acceptance of role/commitment to the show.
  • Performance Dates: March 20-23 (FRI-SUN) 2014
Congratulations to Everyone For their Hard Work!
I am very excited to roll up my sleeves and get started!

But… BEFORE we begin…..
We have upcoming productions, midterm exams, and competitions for our students!!

Below you will find housekeeping information about the next week-and-a-half regarding after school hours.

C’ville Players
Amazing work with first “no shame” performance. I was really impressed and thoroughly humbled by the artistic spirit of the whole thing! This week we will be finalizing Mid-Term performance ideas. Remember that the piece needs to be a classical one (pre-1920s) You have a FEW options   🙂

Students can audition (or pre-screen) to be considered for the Shakespeare competition representing the Charlottesville Branch at Blackfriars in Staunton. Attached is information about this event and what is needed to audition.

Have a wonderful week!
